To my beloved MoonFam, I hope your holiday season was filled with love, warmth, and moments that brought joy to your heart. Whether you celebrated big or kept it cozy and intimate, I hope you found peace and connection during this special time. As we step into 2025, I’m sending you all the gratitude and love for being part of this journey with me.
With the arrival of 2025, I’ve been thinking a lot about how we approach this season—and how deeply we’ve been conditioned to start the year with high energy and ambitious goals. But let me ask you: why do we feel the need to set ourselves up for an entire year of change right in the middle of winter?
Winter is a time for rest and reset, not a time to rush into resolutions or push ourselves to the brink. Life naturally slows down during this season. Trees shed their leaves, animals hibernate, and nature takes a collective pause. It’s in spring that life returns and energy is renewed. Yet we push against this natural rhythm, setting ourselves up for burnout and frustration.
I struggled with this realization during the holiday season. There was so much I wanted to accomplish: participating in Vlogmas, sharing my holiday experiences, and tackling creative projects. But after traveling, falling ill, and finding myself utterly drained, it became clear—winter isn’t for hustling. My body and spirit needed a pause.
Why do we push ourselves like this? It’s deeply ingrained, isn’t it? From childhood, we’re taught to believe in a calendar and a way of life that’s disconnected from nature. Did you know that time was once measured by 13 months of 28 days, perfectly aligning with the moon? Somewhere along the way, these systems were rewritten, disconnecting us from Mother Nature and the cycles that sustain us.
In this season, I’ve been fighting with my own energy, wondering if I’m failing to follow the guidance of my spirit guides. But they’ve reminded me that I’m on track, that I’m doing enough. This exhaustion I feel isn’t just mine—it’s the collective energy of a world pushing too hard against winter’s rhythm.
So, I’m here to remind you: if you’re feeling unwell, unmotivated, or unable to keep up with your plans, that’s okay. Winter is for healing, for dreaming, and for reflecting inward. You don’t need to write down resolutions or create a full action plan. Simply thinking about the abundance you want to invite into your life is enough.
Take this time to honor yourself, your loved ones, and your journey. Spend time connecting with your kids, your partner, or the people who matter most to you. Ask meaningful questions. Deepen your relationships. And if you’re on your own, nurture the relationship with yourself.
Lately, even my sleep has been disrupted—daylight savings time has me up later than usual, tossing and turning until 1 or 2 a.m. But instead of forcing myself to stick to my old routine, I’m leaning into what feels natural. I’m a night owl, after all, and sometimes honoring yourself means letting go of rigid expectations.
Winter is here to teach us to listen to ourselves, to reflect, and to heal. Use this season to dream about what the new year could hold. Move at your own pace, honor your energy, and remember: you are enough, just as you are.
With love and light,
Jojo
